122142 Cast Frame Wanted
This is my first post on the site....plenty of research here prior. I'm hoping to connect with someone hoarding a few cast frame Fane 122142's. Preferably dated late 71. I recently picked up pristine 71 and 73 cabs but unfortunately found a single recone in the 71 cab. I've been trolling the net for a few weeks for one (or more) with no success. The current quad in the 71 cab is dated 44/71. So, in a perfect world that's what I'm after...but that's probably wishful thinking. I also have a pristine 78-DR103 (2 Holer) going on the block. It's stock....but currently sans Power Tubes. Please PM me for info/pics. If interested party has 1-2 Fanes availble for my 71 cab they could be factored into some sort of a deal.

Re: 122142 Cast Frame Wanted
Those cabinets are beautiful ! Where have they been all these years?
I'm 760 miles away from my surplus speaker shelf at the moment. Will have a chance to see what's available in mid-October.
Maybe someone will have a quicker solution for you. Oh - it might help to know on what part of the planet you reside .

Re: 122142 Cast Frame Wanted
Hey Dave, while I have your attention I'd first like to say thanks for the wealth of information your posts on this site have provided me with. Having a history of being more of a Marshall guy....I needed to educate myself before piling on. I found these pieces hiding in Iowa with the 78-DR103 that's going on the block. I already have a 74-DR103 (pics attached) that I picked up in the UK last year. The 78-103 is even cleaner than the cabs if you can believe that....sickly clean in fact. I'm in Vancouver, BC. In regards to the 122142's if someone can produce a couple of tightly dated 71's I'd happily take more than a single so I have a backup driver. I'd actually be interested in a single 73-122142 as backup for the 73 cab as well. Not sure of the week date of the 73 quad. I'd have to do some digging for pre sale pics or pull the panel. Ideally I'm more interested in a fix & spare for the 71....because if I was ever to move one of the two cabs it would be the 73. I doubt I could do it but anything is possible. The girth of the herd is getting a little ridiculous lol....it's a sickness. cdh.

You have done quite well for yourself! And don't sweat the sickness - we're all managing with it .
Hitting the exact production week would require a stroke of luck. But, it could happen.
Iowa, eh? You snatched them right out from under my nose (when I was in Minneapolis). Was that the rig at a Music-Go-Round?

I see you have the sickness as well....BIG 10-4 on Music Go Round lol. It was a good score. Just bummed to find that recone in the 71. I told them prior any recones would be a deal breaker as I was really only after the cabs....and they wouldn't split the set. After paying the shipping charge to Vancouver it's not likely I'd turn them around on my dime. One driver was conveniently (or accidently) shot twice (different angles). As soon as I got in there I knew as I saw the different ribbing on the cone's outer edge. The recone code was conveniently covered up somewhere in the food chain with a black felt. If you got pics from them it was the top left driver with the distressed label. I figured (or hoped) someone had entertained the idea of removing the label...then changed their mind. Once I got in there with a maglight it was clear the label was distressed from time spent on the bench. Lesson learned....next time be more of a demanding A-Hole pre purchase. To their credit they did give me a kickback due to the issue.

Well.....I guess there is no reason for me to keep praying to hit the lottery.
I have had my eye on that stack for almost 2 years.
Glad you plan to give it a good home!!!

Me, too. I wasn't interested in the (non-matching) two holer head and they wouldn't separate the full stack.guitar_tod77 wrote:wondered when/if that thing would ever sell.
As menace2u said, at least it went to a good home .

Re: 122142 Cast Frame Wanted
I managed to find the pics for the 73 cab codes. 24/73 if anybody has a single cast frame 122142 with original cone to part with. As stated earlier the priority is to find a fix for the recone in the 71. I've also located a s***load of gut shot pics of the 78-DR103 that's on the block if there's interest. It's SUPER clean.
Re: 122142 Cast Frame Wanted
I've now found a nice matched quad of 1972-122142's in Scotland. I was looking for a 44/71 to lose my 71 cab's recone....but couldn't pass these up. I also may have found a date matched single for the recone fix. If that turns out to be the case I may be interested in swapping this raw 122142 quad for a cast frame 122231 quad if someone on this side of the pond is looking to change it up. Keep in mind this quad is sans harness. I'd prefer a 122231 quad dated late 71 or early 73...for a good fit with my cabs. If that sparks any interest feel free to PM me.
