cleaning old Fanes

Post by thefatcyclist »

My latest pair of fanes need cleaned carefully, they have a load of rubbish inside them and the cones could do with a clean too. How do I do this. I presume the cones must not be allowed to get wet.

You are correct, sir :) !

A vacuum cleaner, with power set relatively low, and an upholstery brush should help remove most of the dust and debris. They used to market small vacuums for cleaning out computers. I haven't seen one of those in awhile, though.

I would only be concerned about function, not cleaning for cosmetics alone. I suppose a barely damp, lint-free cloth combined with a very light touch could be used if absolutely necessary. But, as you supposed, the glues and paper will not respond well to a lot of moisture.
