Re: vintage DR405
I believe Dr. Hi-Tone has one or two. Or at least he did when I last spoke to him. Check with Him. I'll soon be listing my 1971 DR201 Mannfred Mann head and 1970's Hiwatt 2x15 cab.
Re: vintage DR405
thanks, I'm writing with him
thanks, too. and where I can find those listings then? I already have DR201 with 4 KT88, yours has which power amp tubes? or version with 6 EL34 were DR203? I don't remember now.Baz Cooper wrote:I believe Dr. Hi-Tone has one or two. Or at least he did when I last spoke to him. Check with Him. Re: vintage DR405
It's the best bass amp I have ever owned but I have come in Need to unfortunately sell it. Here is Glenn Cornick playing through the cab...

"playing"
I bought this one from peter arends (ampete): http://s1168.photobucket.com/user/petea ... t=6&page=1
it a biacrown 1983, but as you can see on photos, all parts are hylight specific

Re: vintage DR405
now I'm just bit unsure... can someone confirm these are partrigdes?
all preamp tubes are siemens and all KT88's are GEC as seen on photos. these were factory fitted..? I tested them using orange VT1000 valve tester and they are all still good

Re: vintage DR405
The Genelec was the only one making KT88s at that time. I would think the preamps tubes would be Mullard normally.

even in '83?mhuss wrote:I would think the preamps tubes would be Mullard normally.
and are those transformers partridge?
Re: vintage DR405
Yes, my '83 had Mullards in it.
Those look like Partridges based on the frames and the small amount of yellow varnish remaining.

Re: vintage DR405
thank you for info. I was unsure, but other biacrown hiwatts non-partridge transformers definitely looked different.

Re: vintage DR405
Biacrown started using Drake transformers after they ran out of Partridges. Considering the limited number of DR405's built, your transformers were probably "old stock" at the time.durike wrote:thank you for info.
