122142
We all know that the DR-F is the ultimate HIWATT Fane-style speaker available, but after nearly 5 years and too many prototypes to count we have recreated the legendary fane 122142.
I am considering offering it as a second option in HI-TONE cabs.
With the DR-F we have:
HT1121 1x12
HT2121 2x12
HT4121 4x12
The tentative '142 loaded cabs
HT1122
HT2122
HT4122
The speakers are conservatively rated at 100w. each with efficiency of 99.9 dB
Let me know if you have any interest.
Thanks!

Definitely have an interest!Dr.HI-TONE wrote: Let me know if you have any interest.
Have been dumping my dough into Sound Reinforcement gear lately, though .
Keep me posted on the details (I'd like to hear the 2x12 cab loaded with those).

Give me the 122231 and you'll have a trifecta.Dr.HI-TONE wrote:we have recreated the legendary fane 122142.

Re: 122142
I think the 122231 would be pretty easy to replicate. They are pretty similar to early 1970's Celestion G12H30 when comparing versions that share the pulsonic 010 003 cones.

Absolutely nothing like the "30th Anniversary" reissue G12H30, though!Dr.HI-TONE wrote:They are pretty similar to early 1970's Celestion G12H30 when comparing versions that share the pulsonic 010 003 cones.

Re: 122142
maybe,
I have a pair of 1971 G12H30s 75hz and 1974 122231's with the same cones and they are "in the same ballpark", when loaded into identical cabs and a/b-ing back and forth.
They sound more alike than a 122142 and a 122231 or a DR-F and a 122231.
There is a lot of variation in those speakers.......Fane and Celestion alike.
I do prefer the 122231 over the G12h30, but they were more similar than I expected.

Re: 122142
I think the 30th Anniversaries used the 75hz 1777 cone. Nothing like the old Pulsonic. Lots of modern Celestion "sizzle."
Lacking the nice "woodiness" and punch of the old 122231.

I really like the 122231. Found this track the other day... https://soundcloud.com/davidhenderson/hall-of-fane
Fender amp, Fane speaker, which one I wonder? Any thoughts? My guess is the 122231, it sounds like the ones I used have way back when.

Re: 122142
Count me in as interested as well. Are these based on the speakers we tested some months ago Clayton?

Hi Ross,
no these are a different beast. I have only had them for a couple of weeks now.

Ross,
I should have added that you are welcome to come over and give them a listen if you are up for a road trip.
Let me know!

Re: 122142
I really like the prototypes, however I am not sure we have finalized the specs.
It is definitely "Fane-ish" but it isn't exactly a 122142, nor is it exactly a 122231.
