90s or 00s era Hiwatt (and Fane speaker question)

Hi everyone, first post.

I have a couple of questions that hopefully someone will be able to help me with.

I bought a Hiwatt Maxwatt G100R (I think that it is also known as a G100 112R) and I am trying to find some information about it (or a manual). There is pretty limited information about it out there.

I know that it is a 100W, 2 channel solid state amp, but I cannot find out much beyond that...

The speaker in it is a Hiwatt "high efficiency heavy duty" speaker. Designed in England, probably made in China, but I do not know what that means in terms of specs. It has GSP-12/175-8 printed on it.

I think that this code may translate as: 'Guitar SPeaker'-12 inch/175W-8 Ohm, but I have seen others claim it to be a 100W speaker. Picture attached.

I am considering replacing it with this: https://roostamp.com/products/fane-hiwa ... ar-speaker

Do you reckon that I'll see much of a difference between these two speakers? Is there something else that may be a better option?

I appreciate any info that people can provide. This is my first Hiwatt amp, so I have a bit of a learning curve ahead

Welcome,

"175" might also indicate voice coil diameter

I don't think buying the speaker you propose would add much of anything; I think the newer HIWATT/Fane speakers may be manufactured in China as well if that matters to you.
