Hi all,
I have at last gotten my Line 6 Vetta 2 2x12 extension cab back. After trying the Biacrown with the Celestions and quite liking the sound I carefully removed the speakers, which were easily removed being slip on terminals. I fitted the Fanes after cleaning up the terminals and slipped on the crimp terminals rather than soldering.I will hard wire later.
I just want to check that I have done this right.
The Celestions are 8 ohm speakers and the cab is wired to be 8 ohms stereo and 4 ohms mono.
The Fanes are 16 Ohms.
Thus I have presumed this means that with the Fanes the input will be 16 ohms stereo and 8 ohms mono.
I have set the Biacrown for 8 ohms and plugged in to the mono input.
I assume if I use both outputs from the Hiwatt and a balanced Y lead, I can plug into the stereo input after changing the Hiwatt to 16 ohms, and each channel will be 50 Hiwatt watts.
Also how tight should the speaker be screwed? I went as tight as I could go.
I really like the sound, I have only played a bedroom levels thus far. Clean tone has masses of headroom. I will restring my Les paul and bring it back up to normal pitch and see what that sounds like. The open backed oversized cab sounds really good, running about a foot from a wall. As stated in another thread I am sure that the fanes are reconed. I have no experience of unbroken in speakers so do not know the signs to look for. They sound really sweet with an ear at microphone position, so when I get an attenuator, the recording and live should sound great,
Can't wait till tomorrow to open them up a bit and try the bright channel.
I will post again on YouTube soon.

With a 2x12 cab, this would be correct.thefatcyclist wrote: The Celestions are 8 ohm speakers and the cab is wired to be 8 ohms stereo and 4 ohms mono.

I'm a bit confused by the rest of the mono/stereo conversation, though. Your Hiwatt does not have a stereo power supply, so there's no benefit in hooking up the amp any other way than mono (pushing both 12's). Can you post a pic of the cab's jack plate? Maybe that would help clarify.
Tight enough to engage the gasket, not so tight as to warp the frame. Tighten the bolts like a drum head - that is, one nut snug, then the nut opposite it snug, then the next one over, then the one opposite that. Continue to tighten by half or quarter turns, in the same order.thefatcyclist wrote:Also how tight should the speaker be screwed? I went as tight as I could go.
