Re: Jumpering ´78 Hiwatt DR504
Hi! The y-cable souded awesome and now I don't need to run two cables from the chorus pedal to the amp. Thanks guys for your collaboration. Btw, jumpering made my sound even bigger and it increased my experience with my pedals. I don't know, but everything seems more sensitive and more harmonic. Gre...

Re: Jumpering ´78 Hiwatt DR504
Thks mhuss!
I am also wondering, how different is a linked 2-inputs vs a linked 4-input at clean settings?
I know the 2-inputs have a differnet V2 mix configuration, but at very clean setting, do they come close each other?

Thanks Dr. Hi-tone.
I am waiting for my y-cable.
So far, I am very impressed by the sound of linked Normal/Brilliant channels.

Jumpering ´78 Hiwatt DR504
Hi everyone, It´s been a while since I got my ´78 DR504 and I have so much love for this amp. So far, I´m using just the Brilliant channel and set my amp very clean (12:00) to serve my pedals. It´s a wonderful bold clean sound and I have nothing to complain. As we guitarists are such cursed creature...

I play my ´78 DR504 through a 1x12 EV12L and it sounds awesome. Nice flat response and tons of headroom (12L Classic 200W version).mhuss wrote:Note there is no "right answer." Whatever sounds good to your ears is best for you.

Re: Strange distortion when clean
Hi! I found the problem! I was playing today with my Les Paul and nothing wrong with the sound. I suspected that maybe the Strat was the problem (I got it recently) and there it was. The sound got sometimes as described before, dirty and distorted from time to time. So I kept playing and I discovere...

Re: Strange distortion when clean
Thks Dave, I will clean up the old guy here. Change the "diapers" of this old guy, use some spray and maybe give a retube. I bought it one year ago but I just play it on weekends at home, that's why I never took really care about a good maintenance, and now comes the issues. It came with n...

Re: Strange distortion when clean
Hi again, I removed and reinserted the tubes, but today I turned it on and found the same unpleasant distorted sound. I tried to play around with the knobs and it happened that some pots are cracking (oxidized maybe). But after some time it stopped. I've turned the volume down and I played for 30 mi...

Re: Strange distortion when clean
Thks for replying. Yes, the guitar and speaker cables are new from Klotz and the speaker is a brand new EV. The tubes I was told to be in good shape, and worked fine for one year in house volumes. I know that they should be changed sooner or not. But this strange noise comes from pre-amp or power tu...

Strange distortion when clean
Hi everybody, I have a nice DR504 1978 2 inputs, all original but the large caps. I was playing it last Saturday with my Strat and it was very clean and perfect like always, but suddenly, in some chords and notes it started being dark and with a very strange "sponge" type of distorted soun...

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi everyone,
I'm joining the forum now as a new Hiwatt owner. The amp is a 1978 Hiwatt DR504 all original, even the filter caps, which will be replaced soon.

Re: You might need a cap job if.......
Hi! I will recap my 78 DR504 and I already know about the resistors which clean up the high voltage from the caps.
I can see those resistors in my amp, but in the side filter cap, which has three cables soldered, there is no resistor! Is this cap safe to remove too?
