Well, I had been planning to build a DR103 clone, when an original '73 fell into my hands for under $1k. I had to act quickly, with some questions unanswered (non-technical owner), but I lucked out by getting a piece that was dirty, but with original trannies, with only minor tech work having been performed over the course of its life (filter caps, replaced power tube socket, etc.).
The original head cab was looking a bit tired and tatty:
I'm not a fan of dirt and dust, so I acquired a few new parts from our helpful friends at VHR, broke out the elbow grease and went to work.
Here's the chassis after a good cleaning:
Retubed with JJECC803s, GE JAN 12AT7, and JJE34Ls, installed new filter caps, and everything is looking shiny and clean:
Everything checked, biased, and into the cab:
With the back panel attached:
Once again, VHR came through in providing the vynide used for my custom head cab, and a big THANK YOU goes out to them!
A New (Old) Hylight DR103 for Ted B.

NIce job, it looks great!
Re: A New (Old) Hylight DR103 for Ted B.
Thanks!
But would good would this be without a suitable cab? Fortunately, the VHR guys came through with a fab white 4X12 with DR-Fs. Too bad my old '64 SG is so yellowed with age.
Add a few toys to the mix:
Hmmm, it's starting to sound a bit like "Hemispheres" in here...
