hi guys i went to pick this up today scored for less than my stoke city soccer season ticket . untouched inside
heres a slideshow with many pics after i cleaned the chassis and trannys, the guts have just had a brush off to get rid of the cobwebs. i used mild soap and a bit of wire wool on the chassis and a barely damp sponge on the trannys/caps.

the voltage and impedance selectors had lost all the bacolite and the output tubes were shot... it was a bit of a job to get out of the case and the fuses in it were not correct by a mile so i hope those transformers are still good. theres no way i am hacking this when i get it working again... i'll let you guys have a mooch first before i get it working. the cans dont look as bad as my dr103. and there are pots and caps dated 68. rear badge says dr109.... i thought it was an odd one. serial number 444
hiwatt quality throughout from Dave Reeves garage. enjoy... a very rare one indeed.

Re: 1968 DR109 100 watt PA tube help!!!!!
just got it back from the techs after he reformed the caps and done a general test around. had a couple of new resistors for the choke and rebiased with a good quad of svetlana tubes that were in my dr103. (new JJ's in that one now) new master vol pot too. now works ok a bit poppy but i chose to keep the old caps in there as its so old and rare. one from dave reeves garage for sure. anyway switched her on and she went down after ten mins of playing but turned out to be the mains lead had a crack in the wiring so just lost power, replaced the mains lead reluctantly but at least she is working again and sounds pretty good. however my tech hasnt bothered to check the preamp tube set up and i am sure that they are not in the correct order it has 81 82 and 83 in there but in such a random order i am convinced it isn't right. theres 6 in there altogether should they all be 83? the music channel is real quiet i think thats got an 81 in it and the splitter last one?? is an 83?

Nice score. All the preamps should be ECC83 except the second from the end on the power switch side, which should be an ECC81.

is the second from the end the splitter for sure theres tons of pics in the slide show. this amp has no presence control so have a scan at the pics just to be on the safe side.... i'll check where theres 81s at present when i get chance.

Yep. The first four are the mic preamps, and the last two are the "early 70s" PI. The end one is a preamp and voltage reference, and the next-to-the-end one is the PI.
