what are you bringing?

Post by Dr.HI-TONE »

The countdown has started!

What are you guys bringing? Amps, cabs, guitars, effects?

How many HIWATTs are going to be in the House?

How many can it hold?

Hopefully this can all be shoe-horned into the Accord:

- "iWATT" DR103 clone
- SE4123 #6494 w/ two Fanes, two WeberVST "Custom" Thames (I can bring two extra Thames if somebody wants to hear a full quad)

- Warmoth PRS clone

- Ultimate Attenuator
- Wet/dry f/x rack (TC G-System, line mixer, s/s power amp)
- Fulltone OCD
- Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe
- Boss CH-1
- Boss SD-1 (maybe)
- BYOC TS-808 clone (maybe)
- Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde

- (1) pair Hearos

Where's the countdown timer? :?

Whatever I can fit into ONE checked bag...

That might be limited to mics for recording and a stomp box or two (nothing too exotic in that collection).

Just had a thought: Maybe I should ship my DR105 so that Professor Huss could de-Canadian-mod it?

If any of you guys who are flying in want to ship gear here by all means do so!

I will leave them packaged and you can unpack them when you arrive. I will be glad to help ship them back afterwords.

OSD, I have flown with HIWATT heads in ATA cases......you can do it!

Under today's regulations? Might try it, but I'll have to weigh it out first. Wish I'd have flown a few thousand more miles last year. I'd have a stronger status with Northwest.

Dave

P.S. If I look into a countdown timer code, what date and time should I use as the official start?

No, I need the date and time that the doors open at the 2008 VHR (like June 27, 2008 19:00:00 or June 28, 2008 9:00:00).

Think I got it working (at least on the main page) - confirm the date and I'll give it a try.

O.K., the timer is on the home page ( http://www.vintagehiwattconvention.com ).

I now have to dig into the forum code to see how to embed it here.

Note: The timer is not timezone specific. It's relative to the user's location. Therefore, only folks in the Eastern Time Zone will have a truly accurate readout. If anyone knows of a timer that locks to GMT-5, let me know!

Mine made it to Pittsburgh and back in fine shape (Delta and US Airways) but US dinged me $50 on the way back for overweight (this was after they charged me $100 to change my ticket... whole 'nother story :x). Actually it would have been even more but I took out all the cords and misc. stuff and "forgot" to put the lid back on when they re-weighed it... just under 50 lbs.

Given today's "charge for every last thing" climate you'll probably pay both ways... at least if you ship it you won't have to lug it through the airport.

That timer is sort of creepy. It reminds me of my own mortality. I'm sort of bummed out about it and the convention.

Having said that, here's what I'm bringing:

1 Hiwatt DR 201
1 Hiwatt 2150 cabinet
various basses by various makers
1 drummer (large)
1 set drums
1 set drum mics
assorted mics
bummed out personality caused by that creepy timer  :|

Oh yes--assuming I perk up and arrive as promised we'll be there some time in the afternoon. We'll head out about 10AM CT.

I'm off to "coping wth mortality" therapy.....

Mike

Since I'll be there to audition Hiwatts, I'll be bringing my simple pedalboard (as opposed to my big one) and a PRS Santana III and Gibson SG. Both modded. Possibly a backing trak CD to play along with if there will be a CD player connected to the PA.

Fishing rod and reel! Now that's a good idea. I have a neat collection of vintage Penn, Mitchell, Heddon, and Pflueger stuff....
