'80 DR-504 warm up

Post by gawfshot »

Somebody pinch me? I just picked up a DR-504. The tubes don't glow and the power light is off in Standby. Is this normal? Should I care? Works fine with the Mains on. Thankyouverymuch.

OK. I think I've been doing this backwards on my other amps for a LONG time. There is clearly a lack of consensus on the web and another group contends it's not necessary at all, but I digress. You turn the mains on FIRST and THEN the standby after an adequate warm up...

That makes much more sense.
Always turn the Mains "on" first to let the tubes warm up.
Then turn on the standby switch to play.

HI-TONE, when only the best will do.
