Looking for 1975 Hiwatt 4x12 with Fane 125155
Just thought I'd post this...I'm Looking for a Hiwatt 4x12 with 4 125155 speakers.... I have one from 1975 and it sounds incredible with my bass...there are NO labels on my speakers...just numbers....I think they are cast fames as well....I believe they are rated at 60 watts each...which is plenty for my 1970 DR103...I'm NOT sure what year they were made...I've seen a post on the web where one guy mentioned his cab was from 1978...Mine is a Hylight with the Black Grill, Marshall metal side handles...Thanks!

Hi Baz,
your cab should be from 1978 or 1979.
This would be the first 1975 cab with metal handles that I ever saw.
I have a pair of these cabs with consecutive serial numbers.

Doc,
The serial Number is 8128. Here are some pics of the emblem and side/front view. I'm using a 1970 DR103 through it with My 1965 Thunderbird II. The Tone is SICK. I prefer the slight breakup for my bass. This particular Speaker cab sounds Like a Monstrous Volcano about to erupt...Like a Tornado...I've never heard speakers like this...that's why I'd like to find another...

The stickers would have been applied to black plastic magnet covers - which are missing. It wasn't unusual for them to come loose after being bounced around for awhile. Probably were pulled out from the bottom of the cab to avoid rattling.Baz Cooper wrote: Did some Goon remove the Fane Burgundy Stickers????

P.S. the "ugly duckling" cab I used to own had a quad of Fanes dated 28 and 29/78 with the speakers bearing both 125114 and (fainter) 125155 model codes. Must have been an interesting time at the Fane Factory... FWIW, the handles are the squatter plastic kind with the round cutout.

So do you think it's OK without those black Plastic covers???

Strictly cosmetic. I've seen some Celestions that have lost their covers as well. Some gluers were better than others, I guess.Baz Cooper wrote:So do you think it's OK without those black Plastic covers???

FYI - those are stamped frames, painted hammertone.
I had a similar cab - innards looked identical to yours, outside was very road-worn... S/N 8263 from 1978 - the old "SKIPPY" cab previously owned by the (late) leader of Seattle grunge band "GRUNTRUCK" - later sold back to the real "SKIPPY" in an odd-but-cool, cosmic turn of events.... it had 125155 Fanes, three were re-cones. It had a pretty good, aggressive tone, different than my earlier Fane-loaded cabs, but good nonetheless.
