possible deal SE4122

Post by rainer72 »

Hi, my name is Rainer, I'm from Austria/Europe and the owner of a ´75 DR103 and a ´76 SA212. I want to post some pictures from a vintage SE4122 I want to purchase. I want to know if the speakers are the original ones, the cab is an old one and so on. Maybe you have some time to send me a short message back. Thank you very much!
Best regards Rainer

seems all original to me.
the top 2 speakers have had some wiring added and some idiot has taken a chunk out of the back board (probably trying to get it off with a screw driver) but the piece seems to be inside, so maybe you can repair it?
how much are they asking?
U CANT BEAT A DR103 THRU AN SE4122 ON FULL TITS! BREAKOUT THE DEFAID!

I have blown several of those 122142 from 1974 with the stamped/pressed frames.
I don't know if there was a production problem with them, but they are not very rugged.

unless it is an incredible bargain, I would pass.

the seller wants €990, I think $1130!
What could be a better choice?

an early 1970's SE4122 with cast frame 122142s or an SE4123 with 122231 or 125161 drivers.

Hi Rainer,

Would you be able to play this cabinet in person? If so, set for very loud and very clean, then hit the Low E string and listen carefully as the note decays. If there's any fuzziness beyond the initial attack, keep searching.

Dr.HI-TONE knows of whence he speaks.

Dave
...Hey! I played that song when it was new...

Hi Dave,
Now, I won't purchase this cab, so it is not an incredible bargain and I'm not in hurry to buy a cab.
I will search for another vintage cab (as Dr. Hi-Tone wrote) and/or save money for a new Hi-tone cabinet (but the shipping costs to Austria are high).

I saw a mint hi-tone eclipse 2x12 on an italian online music market, so maybe this could be an option.
Unfortunately, I think, there is no european dealer for hi-tone products
But, as I wrote before, I'm not in a hurry.....

thanks
Rainer
