Re: DR 106 output tap question
Thanks Doc! I saw one schematic which hinted that was the case, but I do not trust my meager knowledge or judgment when it comes to that amp. As to the other issue, I'd put an auto-change on that newish Italian amp brand pushed by GC. Something like ... well, never mind, given that this is a family-...

Re: DR 106 output tap question
My word. Those amps I drove hard in the late 60s from the Northwest USA are automatically changed to !blasphemy! ?

DR 106 output tap question
Hi. Mr Lazyboy here.
I've seen a couple of interesting looking 16 ohm speakers cabs I'd like to try with my DR 106.
I recall there is no 16 ohm tap on the 106.
Is there one hidden inside, like on the old !blasphemy! amps?
Thanks!

Re: DR105 tube question
Thanks. That makes sense to me. Being a bass player, it has been a while since I have used a multi-channel tube amp. And this is my first Hiwatt. Sorry for the newbie questions. I switched to bass from piano in 1966. Those were tube amp days and I even built some amps from kits back then. But that w...

Re: DR105 tube question
Great! Thank you.
It appears that the Mullard 12AT7 is good. A Sylvania AX7 was microphonic and an RCA seriously compromised.
I put a nice 5751 in V1. Is that sensible? Is there any reason to put a "fancier" 12AX7 in any of the sockets?
Questions, questions, questions ...
Thanks.

Re: DR105 tube question
Thank you so much for the fast response. That is where is it seated. A Mullard, no less. Attached is the shot from underneath with the new caps and such. If I could trouble you with one more Hiwatt newbie question: on some amps it is said that you only need to put your "best" pre-amp tube ...

DR105 tube question
I am getting acquainted with my DR 105 which just returned from being serviced. I asked the tech to leave the preamp tubes be since I have a stockpile of tubes to fool with. Somewhere a I saw a spec sheet for the amp or maybe the SC L100. It mentioned there should be 4 12AX7s and one 12AT7. That is ...

Re: Introduce yourself
Greetings. It has been said that "a fool and his money are soon parted." At times I wonder if that was coined for me. I have a small clutch of bass guitars. Most stupidly expensive, but all used live or in the studio. As well, a Versatone bass amp and now a Hiwatt DR 106 (#288). I've yet t...
