Re: 74 Custom 100 with only 451DCV on the plates???
460DCV is common to the 50 watters but not the 100s. It's the 1st time I've seen it on a 100 watter.

74 Custom 100 with only 451DCV on the plates???
I was was checking out a 74 DR103 today. Nice amp but when I went to check the plate voltage (or B+) I measured a suprising 451DCV  Most other Hiwatts I've measured all read around 500-5115DVC. What can be wrong with this one?? The caps are good with no hum. Could this be a bum PT from the fa...

Re: My Latest Hiwatt: a SA112 from 79
Thanks guys. That makes it 5 Hiwatts now. An all original 1975 Custom 50 watt Head with 4x12 cab , a DR103 Custom 100 from 79, two JP100s I built myself last year and now this one. I'm still waiting to find a 200 watter w/ KT88s like this one here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JVGjonKABQ&feat...

Re: My Latest Hiwatt: a SA112 from 79
Nice score. That's the next Hiwatt I want to get (a 50 watt 1x12 combo). 8) That does look like a CA mod (or more to the point, a "modded CA mod."). Easily undone if you don't like it. --mark Thanks Mark. It sounds so good right now, I don't think I want to mess with it. Who (no pun inten...

Does that little curly yellow wire near V2 on the board mean a Canadian mod??

My Latest Hiwatt: a SA112 from 79
Just got it today... a 1979 two holler. Looks like it had a little mod done in V1. Other than that she is a beauty. 520VDC on the plates (tubes in @120VAC wall). Fane was replaced with a Vintage 30 which surprisingly sounds great... more towards a Marshall sound without the compression. I understand...

Re: 1975 Hiwatt 50 watt 4 holer. What's it worth??
Nice hoard of British amps! What's up with that random hardwired fuse :?: :!: :?: It's soldered to the outside of a fuse holder, and in-line nonetheless :? . Unless I'm missing something, that mod is redundant. I'd take that one out. You don't want to have to remove the chassis and break out the so...

Re: 1975 Hiwatt 50 watt 4 holer. What's it worth??
50 watter is not as loud as the 100watt and it breaks up a little sooner. that's the difference in a nutshell. if you want it loud, go for 100watts. otherwise a 50watter is more than enough.

Late 70's to early 70's Preamp Conversion???
Hello there, Does anyone out there have a step by step guide to converting a late 70's preamp to an early 70's preamp on a DR103?? I have a 1978 DR103 which needs to have a voltage double (+ bias pot) put in so that I can use some modern tubes. I put some Electro-Harmonix 6CA7EH in there yesterday a...

Re: 1975 Hiwatt 50 watt 4 holer. What's it worth??
Hiwatts Rule!! I've had a lot of amps in my collection and nothing, I repeat, nothing is as loud or as sweet as my Custom 100. Two JP100s being built as I write, for which I will need cabs. Once I have some decent recording gear I will post clips.
